The Vinyl Store is a specialist online retailer focused on vinyl records, serving a growing community of collectors and music enthusiasts.

As the business expanded, it required a more scalable commerce platform capable of supporting stronger search visibility and a cleaner, more intuitive purchasing experience.

OSE partnered with The Vinyl Store to migrate the brand from WooCommerce to Shopify, with the objective of improving customer experience, simplifying the user journey and strengthening the technical foundations required to compete in a highly competitive online retail category.

The project combined platform migration, technical SEO improvements and enhanced product content designed specifically for vinyl record catalogues.

02The Challenge

The existing WooCommerce platform had become increasingly difficult to optimise for both search performance and usability. Product pages lacked structured content capable of fully representing vinyl releases, and the platform architecture made it difficult to scale organic visibility across artist, album and product searches.

Vinyl collectors typically browse by artist, album or genre, and the existing site structure did not fully support these behaviours. This limited the store’s ability to capture organic search demand across the broader music catalogue and find the products they were seeking.

Operationally, the platform also required better alignment with backend inventory systems to support catalogue growth and order processing.

The objective of the project was therefore not simply a platform migration. The goal was to create a faster, simpler and more customer-friendly commerce experience while strengthening the technical foundations required to increase market share within the vinyl retail category.

03Platform Architecture

OSE migrated The Vinyl Store from WooCommerce to Shopify, implementing a streamlined commerce architecture designed to support performance, scalability and SEO/GEO optimisation.

Shopify provided a stable platform foundation while enabling simplified catalogue management and more efficient product publishing workflows. The new structure also allowed navigation and product discovery to better align with how vinyl collectors browse music catalogues.

To support operational efficiency, the platform was integrated with Cin7, enabling synchronisation of product data, stock levels and order information between systems. This integration ensured accurate inventory visibility while reducing manual catalogue management.

A key enhancement involved expanding product page content to include dynamically enriched track listings specific to each vinyl record. These additions provided greater contextual information for users while strengthening search engine indexation for artist, album and song-related queries.

A core objective of the migration was to strengthen The Vinyl Store’s online visibility and to drive up revenue.

and Revenue Uplift

To achieve this, OSE implemented a structured technical framework across the new Shopify platform, improving page architecture, metadata structures and crawl pathways for artist, album and product pages. These improvements, combined with a visual refresh drove a 2X increase in online revenue for the brand.

A key component of the strategy was the creation of dedicated artist collection pages, enabling the platform to capture high-intent demand around specific musicians and bands. These structured collection pages act as authoritative landing pages for artist searches, aggregating all relevant vinyl releases while strengthening topical relevance within search engine results.

Product pages were also enriched with dynamically generated track listings specific to each vinyl release giving customers richer product details. This additional content improves the discoverability of individual records while providing deeper relevance for artist, album and song-based searches.

By establishing clearer entity relationships between artists, albums and tracks, the platform is better positioned to surface results in on-site search configuration, making the customer experience increasingly easier for potential buyers to locate the items they’re seeking.

Following their platform migration project, The Vinyl Store experienced significant improvements in on-site performance, site engagement and a 2X revenue uplift.

Additionally, Google AdWords conversion rates increased by 200%, a major win for any eCommerce brand looking to drive their dollars further.
